The Word Butterfly...

The old English word for Butterfly was BUTTORFLEOGE, meaning an insect that steals milk. A similar word in Dutch has the same meaning. According to a folktale in Great Britain, the Brimstone Butterfly was called a fly of butter, because of its color. The word Butterfly seems to have many roots.
